This shit is what happens when hippies have children. If we'd legalize pot they'd all be too stoned to keep screwing around.

Nothing has happened yet but this is very disturbing. You dont want all the fisherman to come and vote against you, and thats what will happen if they pass some bullshit about recreational fishermen.

Wow, Butthead I'm with you on this one. I had high hopes (or was I just HIGH) for Barry, but he quickly dispelled the rumor that he was anything other than a politician.
This sucks ass, point blank. I mean damn, I'm being taxed to death, and now you saying I can't even go fishing to relax and ease my mind (to keep me from going postal). This stuff is getting way beyond ridiculous with these tree huggin fools. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for conservation and protection of our natural resources, but sheesh.

Thank the Obama voters. They wanted his great guidance. I am still pissed. The first time I register to vote, my efforts are in vain. I can't believe so many fools in our country voted this idiot in.
I fish a decent amount. This one is disturbing. I do think there needs to be more attention on the huge netting factories out there that wipe out millions of fish a day. But when it could impact me being able to go wet a hook for fun it's scary.

Nothing has happened yet. Read the article. They just left out the benifits of recreational fisherman, that opponents believe will lead to more drastic restrictions.

There is more to it than that. My Dad is a charter Captain out of St George Island and they already have a mandatory seasona for each type of "protected" fish. But that has been the case for several years, this is not a new thing. I dont have any problems with seasons, and limits on fish, if its for the right reasons. Now if they introduce a total ban on keeping fish for recreational fisherman then we are going to have some problems.

The council's decision, if approved, is binding only to anglers who fish in federal waters, which generally begin about nine miles off the coast.

sorry -- i must have received some bad intel from the boat captain i spoke with. either way, cutting snapper season for charter guys is absurd. i went
last year and we could have caught 2,000 snapper if we wanted. but instead we headed out for some tuna fishing. and i am pretty sure any snapper
holes i have been to were > 9 miles out.

Most snapper holes are a few more miles out unless its winter, which isnt snapper season. I think the commercial fisherman should bear some of the burden too, not just the recreational guys. There needs to be more balance betwwen commercial reg and recreational regs, but the recreational guys dont really have a mouth piece like the industry guys......Thats the biggest problem imo.
