Terms of service often bar signatories from all sorts of normal-seeming behavior, so the non-lawyers among us should take these with a grain of salt. Nonetheless, Apple’s choice to sell devices that only run approved software, and only software sold in its own store, could ultimately make people wonder whether the cameras in the company’s infamous “1984″ commercial may have been pointed in the wrong direction.

Yeah, I'm NOT thrilled at all by some of the moves Apple has been making lately. they really ARE getting as bad as MS in terms of "control everything".

I mean, in some respects, I don't mind because the more they control things, the more seemless and integrated and easier it is to do a lot of stuff, but it also removes choice, which sucks. I mean, things like "non-user-swappable batteries" - ok, I can see why they do it - 1) so they don't lose out on the replacement battery sale and 2) to keep cheepo junk batteries from getting into their products and potentially causing problems that then Apple has to deal with in warranty replacements. But STILL! GOD!
