I am looking to purchase a 2005 Tundra but am concerned with all the issues Toyota is having right now. Does anyone know what to look for the 2005 model year.
Thanks,
David

Nothing wrong on the first gen style and No serious recall's like todays 2nd gen. Problems on 05-06 were mainly small minor stuff. The 5 speed Auto was used and nothing serious with that update. Vvti updates on the v8 beyond that a very good truck for the time period. Power wise from the 4.7 liter v8 was decent but towing anything larger then 5k it put a serious strain on the engine and you will notice it.
The 4.7 liter iforce has been replaced for 2010 to the newer 4.6 liter iforce v8 and that engine isn't belt driven from what i have been told. Also take in mind 4.7 liter v8 engines require the timing belts replaced every 90k and since your in there might as well replace the water pump too. That job isn't cheap but has to be done in the long run. I'm glad I get my Oem Toyota part's at wholesell .

I'm driving a 2009 Highlander hybrid, and haven't had any problems. Rest assured if I do I know where the stop button, neutral, and the brakes are.

Just buy my 2007 Nissan Titan instead. You never know what the next recall will be for Toyota at this point.

LOL i seem to recall Titans having rear end problems from cooling issues. I tested the Titan when it first came out and really liked it but Nissan quality had me a little edgy at the time period. My friend just purchased a brand new Fully Loaded Maxima and I have to say I would look at Nissan vs Toyota and like a few of there products. Everybody has little issues with there quality and overall I'm not surprised with the growth Toyota has received some cost cutting has been going on. I've had 2 Tundras and other models and for the most part Toyota has been pretty good on taking care of there customers. I'm just sad to read all there problems right now and hope it doesnt put a dent on there sales.

I've had both an '04 Tundra & an '05 Titan. The Titan was bigger & more powerful but I can tell you from first hand experience, the Tundra holds up very well in a roll over crash.:getdrunk:

No doubt. I walked away with nothing but a bruise from the seatbelt.

They all have issues on tires Factory puts the biggest Pos on them and they barely last 14k. My advice go ahead and buy Michelin Ltx which last around 50k to 60k. Michelin is the only tire i've found to be good on tread wear.
If your getting uneven wear check your shock's and make sure everything is within Oem Guidelines.
