So, it's supposed to get up into the mid 40s this weekend, anyone interested in riding? I just got my bike ('04 636) last weekend, and I'm eager to ride!

I'm in Acworth, and I was thinking about maybe going up to Red Top. But, if you want to ride and have somewhere else in mind, speak up!

Even if the roads are clear by this weekend in the higher elevations (which I'm kind of doubting), you are sure to find plenty of sand and gravel where the trouble spots were. Pretty risky if you ask me to chance coming around a corner and finding an ice patch that still hasn't melted. If anything for a change of pace, head south to Pine Mountain or something like that. The roads are definitely much clearer down this way and they didn't get near the snow/ice that the north Atl got.

Ah, good point.

I've never been down that way, but I'd definitely be up for it if anyone is interested.

Oh wait, that's actually like twice as far as I thought it was. I don't really want to spend that much time on the highway freezing my ass off.

Anyway, if anybody does want to ride this weekend, let me know and we can find something hopefully a bit closer.

I'd probably just wait, especially where you just got the bike, until after the rains wash away the road debris....gravel mud, etc. just sayin.
NEXT wknd looks like wknd to ride so far!!

I would love to, but I'm in agreement with Dan. I was in Colombia all last week, watching everyone else enjoy the motorcycles and tropical weather, then came back here to ice and snow all week. I've had to walk past the bike to get into the house through the garage all week waiting for warmer weather, but now that it will be, there will be a ton of sand and crap down on the asphalt.

I say we wait for the next good rain, and then plan a big polar bear ride when the roads are washed of all this crap.

Ha, point taken.

I was driving around today on my lunch break checking out the roads, and you guys are right, here is a lot of sand and gravel.

So, next weekend then! It's supposed to rain Monday and Tuesday, which will hopefully wash away all the nastiness. And, next weekend is supposed to be in the 50s.

Id be up for a ride, I just dont want to have to spend an hour washing all that nasty salt and road grit off the bike before it starts rusting everything. hahaha

Well, I work Friday, but I'd definitely be up for meeting on Saturday. I'll probably be going to MarMo early to have my sprocket and chain replaced, but after that I'll definitely want to ride.

GeorgiaCBR, what BP are you referring to?

Roads are awful up there. Even before all this snow we got this week the roads were horrible up there.

Don't hold it against me if I can't keep up though! This is my first sporty (I've always ridden standards in the past).

To each their own Jaco...It never gets boring to me. Idk. With that super snazzy suit, I better see you at some track days. lol. And there arent enough track days to relieve the riding itch...especially when its warm. IMHO.

yeh, also when you're broke and you need to skip a track day. It's awesome just being able to go hop on the bike and go.
