Worth it for what? To just not have smog valve? Then yes. To lose about a pound of smog valve off the bike? Yes
To do anything for performance? Nope. They don't have anything to do with the motor. The PAIR (from Honda) system injects fresh air into the exhaust right after the exhaust valve. That way any unburnt fuel will have oxygen and heat to burn off by the time it gets to the end of the exhaust. And on some bikes that extra air helps keep the inlet for the catalytic converter nice and toasty (which it needs to work).

When the air/fuel ratio of your exhaust (meaning the amount of unburnt fuel still left in the exhaust gases) is correct for the incoming puff of air (when your bike puffs out the exhaust something has to replace it and its actually air flowing back into the exhaust pipe) to detonate the next outgoing puff of exhaust you'll get that brambmbmbmbmble sound / backfiring off throttle. Blocking off the PAIR can change the air/fuel ratio and stop that. However if yours isn't doing it then blocking it off may make the ratio right for it to start.

THere's ways of tuning that out with a Power Commander of Bazzaz though...

So the real question is: what do you want it to do and I'll put my two cents if its worth it.

I was hoping you'd post up. Basically, since I changed the headers, on decel I pop more than what I did with just the slip-on (obviously). I've seen people post about em on other forums and stuff but no one really knew what exactly their purpose was other than to stop the popping.

I have a PC3 and I plan on going up to the shop to get the tune done sometime before riding season. So what you're saying is a tune can get rid of pop pop pop?

The "tune" part of it won't do anything for the pop. Cause during that time you're on the gas. And I'm tuning the Power Commander to adjust the air/fuel ratio going into the engine for peak performance or smoothness or whatever.

However, yes there is something that can be done at "off throttle" areas to get rid of the decell popping. I guess you'd still call that tuning...

Doesn't the pair system have to be blocked off for proper air fuel meatering during a dyno tune

The roach clip method! Huey fixed mine after I got the PC and my slip on. It was jerking on decel and shooting flames out of the exhaust a foot or so.

I have to buy like 2 or 3 of those a year. I temporarily block off the air line that feeds the pair.
When I buy them I usually get them at gun shows. I always make sure the guy knows exactly what I'm getting them for. Hahahaha

Yup. :-(
I don't know why though. I'm pretty sure they know I'm not really using them for surgery!

You can usually find the forceps at medical supply stores, also Bass Pro Shops. My dad and I use them for fly tying, when we were into that, and more for crimping split shots onto line to add small amounts of weight. Look in the fishing aisle, right around the other pliers.
