This is from today's NY Times. The point of the article is that the Tea Party groups are avoiding social issues like gay marriage or abortion because they are divisive. It says they're trying to stick to fiscal and economic issues. Sure, there are lots of social conservatives among their members, but they're trying to be 'big tent' and they are attracting a lot of Democrats.
If anyone here has been to any meetings or is actually involved in a local Tea Party I'd be interested in reading your comments on the article.
