This time for my bike. :D SPOT - http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?&glId=0UDnRMa14mnq4lmJyAyKPkkUsIbZvzsSy

My perfect 08 DL650 showed up on ADV last night in St Louis and I didn't waste any time. I called the guy and put a deposit on it right away. :highfive: It has 2700 miles so is like new.

We were tempted to send Sarah on another Fly & Ride (I'm stuck working this weekend again :crying:), but we had a couple concerns. The DL650 is a big bike for Sarah with a lot of weight up high for someone her petite size. This one is lowered 1.5" which means she would probably be able to flat foot it or at least touch well, but I think she was still worried about dropping it. The other big issue is we couldn't find a flight that got into St Louis at a decent hour this morning and enough time for her to get back to TN to stay the night at her Mom's. Most flights went through Chicago and direct flights were full.

I thought about waiting to see if I could do a fly & ride later in the week if my schedule eased up, but I kind of wanted to get the bike ASAP. Well my Dad and Sarah decided they would just drive up there and got get the bike, so they are on their way having left at 7am ET this morning. Its going to be a long drive, but I'm so thankful they are doing it.

So, we'll both have our new bikes to us very shortly!

Here she is. 2008 DL650 with 2700 miles. It has Metzler Tourance Tires with about 2000 miles on them. The previous owner had 3 flats on the stock tires in 500 miles so they were changed out to the Metzlers. Yeah.

Minimal extra's with the Center Stand and Pyramid Fenda Extenda, but I still have all my extras from my last DL650, so no biggie there.

It does have 1 1/2" Lowering Links installed and stock links included, so I'll obviously be raising it back to stock height.

Looks great Dan. Is there an advantage the 650 has over the 1000? Your post also reminded me that I have to renew tracking on my SPOT.

IMOP, the only thing the 1000 has going for it over the 650 is the extra power. I know its not for everyone, but the 650 is lighter, smoother, handles good, and over all is just more refined. Especially when you step up to the 07+ DL650 with the dual spark head. Not to mention for the most part, the 650 gets way better mileage. I personally just don't care for the 1000.

The main reason I bought a 1000 over a 650 is the pipes. Even though I own one, I still think the Strom is a fairly ugly bike & it needs all the help it can get in the looks dept. Sorry, but to be brutally honest, the single pipe coming out the back of the 650 looks horrible IMO.

I can't really argue with that, but I do like the guys that have turned that into a tool holder. I have seen some guys that made theirs look really nice by disguising it as another pipe.

I agree. I've seen pics of a 650 w/ a "dummy" pipe & it does help the looks.
