I'm excited. It's about an hour away from home, same as the mountains. Time to save up haha. Sportbiketracktimes.com already has times available starting in April, maybe even March.

Hope this isn't a repost I haven't heard anyone talking about it? I just stumbled upon it looking for track times.

We had a private tour a few months ago. I unfortunately wasn't able to attend but I heard back from a lot of customers they were pretty impressed... THey put a lot of up to minute info on their facebook page.

There will be track times every month once they open so many opputunities. $195 for a weekend (~$375 bundle) or $150 for a weekday. I'm eyeballing the weekday ones, seems like less traffic from what I'd assume and I'd just have to ask off work.

So how many tracks does Atlanta have with this one? Roebling, Road Atlanta, and Atlanta Motorsports Park? Is this the one that also has a private club?

Yep, our new owner was really proactive in getting slots for track days when AMP opens up. I can't freaking wait!!!

I hope to see a bunch of you guys/gals out there this year!!!

How cool will it be to be one of the first riders to turn a wheel on a new track.

Yes, when Atlanta Motorsports Park opens Atlanta will have more tracks within a short drive than anyone else in the country.

Sportbike Track Time has a bunch of dates at AMP listed for 2011. Unfortunately the March weekend has already been cancelled - track won't be ready in time.

AMP has been able to stay pretty close to their extremely aggressive construction timeline. Here's hoping this doesn't turn into another Bluegrass Motorsports Park - BMP was on STT's schedule for 2010 (maybe even 2009), hit some "environmental" snag, and still isn't open.

All the drawings for AMP looked great and everyone I know who has been able to tour the site says it should be a fantastic facility.

Keep your fingers crossed!

maxleanangle
04-22-2011, 01:11 PM
I strongly doubt it, at least initially. Existing trackday outfits are lining up for dates. No reason for AMP to do the extra work of promoting an event themselves.

Plus the AMP "members" have paid $50,000+ a piece for access to the facility, so I dont' expect them to be excited about giving up dates to any more "outsider" events than they have to.

Earliest date I've heard is August - depending on weather. If they don't get any dates during the '11 season I wonder if they money will hold out over the winter. I'd hate to see another Bluegrass-type situation.
Best of luck (and weather) to those trying to make it happen.

I was up at AMP for a tour last October...they had made a lot of progress at that time and had a lot of workers on site. They were in process of building the bridge over the creek at the bottom of a hill so they could complete the paving. Most of the track was paved. Guard rails and F1 level catch walls being installed.
I believe they are getting close.

Oh and update as of Tuesday...I think this thing is actually going to be finished and ran on.

PROJECT UPDATES - NEARING COMPLETION! JUST NEED SOME DRY WEATHER TO DRY OUT PAVING AREAS!!!

All stormwater piping and structures are installed and finished
Geobrugg F1 Debris fence is on site and being installed (One of three tracks in the world with this fence)
Guard rail is on site and being installed
Fencing around the property is on site and being installed
All retaining walls are installed and now planted with ivy
All mass grading is finished, just "blue topping" and fine grading to be completed
Tire walls are being bundled and finished, about 2/3rds of the way completed
Irrigation system on site and being installed
All retention ponds are completed
All fiber wire conduit on site and nearing completion of installation

Spread the word and re-post...
If sitting on the fence, come do a tour this Sat @ 9:30 - RSVP to Becky@100mphlunch.com

you would be wrong.

I agree that AMP is definitely further along than Bluegrass was, but it could still flop tomorrow. Quite simply, they still dont have EVERYTHING paid for yet. I hope it comes to fruition myself, but again, i wouldnt hold my breath and wont believe it will ever open until the first event is actually done. Hell, STT booked all those dates there last year on the premise of the track being complete, here it is, a year later, and AMP will be LUCKY to be opened by the end of this year, and i think even STT isnt dumb enuff to fall for that again. You put all your eggs in one basket like they did last year, and you'll struggle to stay in business.

whats so funny, is that AHRMA (vintage bikes) has now cancelled their April event there. They dont think its going to be built, and yet what i find simply ludicrous is that AMP is still trying to use "bad weather" as the excuse for all the delays when this has been one of the mildest winters on record, and the last several months have been nothing but good weather for outdoor work.

I'd love to see this place built, but the ownership is lacking...............well................somethin g.

Once again, i'll believe it will open when i see it actually "open". The way its going right now, its looking like another "Bluegrass"

I disagree. It has rained a lot of days (not more rain, just rainy days).
I can't get a bucket truck off the pavement without having to have a tow truck and landscape crew behind it.

There problem is they don't know how to schedule and have unobtainable goals -- and instead of listening, they just plug there ears and say "we'll be ready! we'll be ready! promise!" when they know they won't. They got memberships to sell, and posting on FB that you will be 18 months behind won't fill slots.

Yea, that's what AMP management had to say when asked about it too. Shitty attitude by management if ya ask me, it just shows their lack of concern of motorcyclist. Also, for those of you who built tire barriers, better check your free trackday coupon, I'm hearing they put an expiration date on there and some have already expired. Another shitty move on their part.

you can run bikes on any track you'd like, no matter the run off. its up to YOU as to whether you want to run on it or not. This track is not being built to any type of "bike" requirements for racing, keep in mind, the owners claimed there would be no racing on the track, at least thats what they told the people at the hearings when they were trying to get approval to build it.

There is a lot of shady shit thats gone on with that place from the git go that im not diggin. And if that pic is any indication of the type of safety theyre gonna build, then screw them, i'll never ride that track. This shits dangerous enough without having to worry about crap like that.
