ERIK BUELL RACING AND AMSOIL ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP

Includes Support for Erik Buell Racing Superbike Race Team, and Production Lubricants Development and Supply

East Troy, Wis. – Erik Buell Racing LLC is pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement with AMSOIL INC. which includes development and supply of production lubricants for the new Erik Buell Racing motorcycles, as well as a three year sponsorship of the Erik Buell Racing race team in AMA Pro Superbike.

“AMSOIL is a great story of American engineering and entrepreneurship, and we are very proud that they recognize similar characteristics in our new motorcycle company and have chosen to work with us,” said Erik Buell, “They were the first company to introduce synthetic oils to the consumer market, and have become recognized throughout the industry as a leader in lubrication technology.”

"We are very impressed with the development process, level of integrity and technical expertise with which AMSOIL approaches their products. They have a really strong internal technical team and also use independent third party firms to check their products against the competition on a regular basis to make sure they know where they stand," said John Fox, engineering director at Erik Buell Racing. "Their commitment to continuous improvement is exemplary."

"AMSOIL is very happy to be involved with Erik Buell Racing with their new street motorcycles. We saw a great match in the way they are using the extreme world of racing to push their new 1190 to the maximum so they can be sure it will be over-built for street use." said Jeremy Meyer, Race Program Manager of AMSOIL Racing, "That is what we have done for so many years at AMSOIL. Our company's founder came from the world of fighter aircraft, and has always driven us to push the extremes of performance."

The Erik Buell Racing/AMSOIL #99 AMA Superbike race team will compete with Geoff May riding. The team will start at Daytona using the Buell 1125RR model raced last year, and expects to debut the race prepared version of the new Erik Buell Racing 1190RS at Infineon in May.

The 1190RR is a reality, race season will be great this year!

What are you talking about! AMA superbike rules have been set down in stone for quite a while, twin motorcycles of up to 1200cc can compete with I4 motorcycles of 1000cc. Is Ducati a cheater, is Aprilia a cheater also. Get off all that DSB bull and be proud that an American motorcycle manufacturer is going to compete on the world stage a win! Not since the late 60's early 70's has an American sportbike competed and won, I for one appreciate what the Japanese and Italians have done, but it is been far to long for America to sit on the side lines and not compete. Now we have an opportunity, and we should support that opportunity. Erik Buell loves this sport and is dedicated to it like very few in history, he is an American success story, knock him down and he comes back fighting harder than ever. What is there not to admire?
I can't wait to see Geoff May and the 1190rr on the podium. If more Americans had the dedication and determination Erik Buell has, this country would be a whole lot better off.

AMA Roadracing isn't the world stage.

The 1190rr has gone undefeated in Europe in the SOT series last year with the Pegasus Race team, the bike has been competing against Ducati 1098 & 1198's, KTM RC8, and Aprilia, if you can out run the Duc's you have got something real. Weather or not anyone will field an 1190rr in WSB is unknown at this time, but the bike will be competitive as it has already proven.

Judging by your bike list, I'd say you're a little biased mackja!

But, I think this is great news! I love Buell bikes, I think they do some really interesting things and I'm glad they're going to be able to keep racing. I was shed a tear when those idiots at Harley shut them down.

But, I do think it's strange that twins get a high CC cap then I4s...

Until I see a Buell on a WSBK grid it isn't on the world stage.
I wish it luck. To me, its a big "FU" to Harley -- and he did a good job.

I will freely admit I am biased, it not just because of the bikes I own, but why I own them, I have been riding bikes on and off for about 18 years, I while I have always appreciated what the Japanese have brought to the table, loved the Italian bikes (to much maintenance, high cost) I kept wondering why someone in America could not build a sport bike, while there have been attempts, all have been highly custom, expensive and unobtainable for most of the riding public. Then here comes Erik Buell with a vision and a passion, and with great fortitude he made it possible for America to have a production sport bike. I have a lot of admiration for Erik and his won't quit attitude. I want to see an American bike manufacturer succeed on the track, I want to see more that just a XR750(great machine). I find it hard to understand why the greatest nation on the face of the earth cannot make a sport bike, we make great cruisers and I have owned a bunch of them. I personally prefer twins over I4's, so most Japanese sport bikes don't appeal to me much, this is not to say there not great bikes, it is just what I prefer. Just as Italians root for Rossi and Ducati, the Germans for BMW, Americans should root and support and American sport bike.

+1

I also don't understand why the hell we don't make sport bikes here. Hell, Harley is really the only successful American motorcycle manufacturer, and most of them are ugly piles of crap.

Like I said, I think Harley made a huge mistake cutting Buell. I'm just hoping he can get enough funding or something to start production on some bikes that we can actually afford, lol.

That or someone else needs to start a new company to do so. There really isn't any reason why we can't. Hell, even those silly British can do it.
