I can't say anything postive about Freewheel Honda service manager and a prick to deal with.Called American Honda they didn't seem to care either and the Honda service people out here are moron's to deal with. I don't use stealerships for service after my Warrenty was up it's Mamo or Dr doug from now on.

I have a bad Crank Knock in my 09 1000 Engine. The bike ran like a Bat out of Hell until the 5th lap at Barber this weekend..... 1st Advanced session on Sat.... Sucked...5th lap comiong up out of 4.. lost a little power(I was thinking fuel or something) then down to 2nd before 5 and KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.. I hit the kill switch and went off track.. Unforuanatley I heve heard that noise before... Anyway I am the 2nd owner, its a salvaged bike, It went down by the original owner on the left side. I noticed last night on the rashed cover I took off (Rashed not broken) there is a little knick in the inside from the Crank hitting..I am assuming it was a weak bearing that caused it all.. The bike ran great in my garage the last 2 Months during the build and I took it around the Hood a couple times as well.. Anyway I know business is tough right now dor dealers and they will make $$ if they claim it from SUZUKI...Its a 2009 with 2000 Miles on it.. I might just be getting RM Racing or KWS to do a rebuild... The motor didnt seize.. sounded fine at idle...

Going to be really hard to get that done under warranty with all the evidence pointing to it being caused by crashing.

I agree Sean... However times are tough now.. I heard that Suzuki used to have a fleet of people that would come and do a visual check on the bike before any type of claim they would cover. All of those people have been let go due to the economy... With that said there are ways around this where the dealer can make good $$...

Talked to Shawn Frank thanks... He barely remembered you BTW..lol... Anyway Not looking to good.. He said they would have to break into the engine and if the Crank was tweeked the only root cause would be from a tip over or crash and it wouldnt be covered.. Also with me being the 3 rd owner and bike not being Street Complete that Suzuki probaly would walk away in the computer system... I will start to looking to get the bottom end redone from someone here this week.....
Good thing you still have the mighty TLR!

you get no warranty on a track bike.ever. if they find any safety wire. its out. admiting its a track bike.its out. this is what theyll do; tear it apart to see if it can be cover .but the reallity is ...they want a deposit to do it most of the time. then thell slip you the bad news oh its not covered but heres your bill now. and would you like it fixed.thatll be 3 grand... i may have a crank for that one but id put a new one in. and what oil did you use in it and what filter... i got a couple popped motors in the scrap pil and they all got aftermarket filters on them. and anyone tells you that the aftermarket filter is just as good.well... you know what you are!!! only motor i got that a frame goes on is my truck. it doesnt turn 13,000rpms
At Suzuki school we did a flow test on all avail filters the stock Suzuki flow almost twice as fast as any other. and when the motor is spinning up at full rpms the oil bypasses the filter when therees too much load on it. so why run a filter that causes pop-off sooner. Suzuki looks at the oil filter first. and ive seen him say NO as soon as they see that its not OEM. and that law that came out saying they have to warranty even with aftermarket filters. does not apply to motorcycles.

I put a brand new Suzuki Filter on it.... Talked to a few people today and these have been known to go when wrecked on the left side like this one... Oh well... good news is is that someone is coming to get the TLR this weekend so there is my $ or at least part of it to get this bitch going again... It was a fun 5 Laps to say the least... This thing handled like a 600 but was loaded with Power......

really sucks about your bike. i know they are pushed to the max now. if i had to guess your damage. id guess 550 for the crank 250 for the bearings (and thats the fun part).100 on the gaskets. and 500 on the labor.ad another 200 to pull the motor from the frame. id say $1600 should cover it. thats an expensive track day.

Talking with Rick @ RM Racing he told me that the Oil Pumps in these need to be changed as well.. I plan on pulling the motor myself and then getting the work done... Sucks.. I spent the last 3 Months building this thing... Now I need to tear it down.. wait and do it all over again... Its going to be alot more than 1600 unfortuanatley... The Cranks on these 09's are $850 alone....
