Time to get some sliders for the new bike. I ran the shoguns on my last bike, but for the zx6r the shoguns are a no cut deal, and im afraid of having issues with a nocut IF i ever go down. Im interested in the woodcrafts, ive talked to several guys with track experience with them and they have gotten excellent reviews. However i found on the kawiforums a guy who wrecked his and it snapped part of the frame off. Here is the design for my bike

Anyone have any input? i cant find the thread again with the pics of the broken frame.

The only thing i can say is to use a bolt with less tensile strength than the part you are attaching it to.

I've used a no-cut slider and it worked fine; granted I wasn't going very fast when I went down. My next sliders will be either Woodcraft or Vortex because I want replaceable pucks. I'll never buy another Lockhart Phillips product again.

Yoshimura, Vortex, Woodcraft you cant go wrong.. No cuts are only to prevent you from cutting your bodywork and taking away more protection....

A frame slider will tweak the frame if it comes into contact with something solid while sliding. That is the downside to them, but I wouldn't let it deter you.

I can get you good prices on Woodcraft and LSL as well as the yani shiki sets and probably a few others

+1. If bad stuff is gonna happen, its gonna happen. Will a frame slider incase the odd chance that the bike will catch and flip? Maybe but if not the slider it will be something else, guaranteed.

thanks for the input, i assumed it snapping that piece off the frame was a fluke thing. I dont want no cuts, and ive never used a no cut on any bike. The only problem ive had is for this bike they are all a no cut type design. I wanted to go with a better quality this time since i did buy this bike brand new.

Woodcraft cut sliders saved my frame when I low sided my bike last year. Probably around 30mph

You really can't wreck or drop a bike without there being some damage, even with a slider. If I slider catches a pothole or curb... ya you can damage a frame. If you don't run one, you can severely damage a case cover or handlebar, or dent a tank.
I think the slider is the lesser of two evils, at least on the street. If you race and have a nice stash of spares... then maybe not.

LSL offers a nice frame slider as well, right around $105.

im concerned about the frame itself, i understand whats going to be damaged regardless.
just be sure that whatever you buy, you can buy replacement pucks for them. Vortex and Woodcraft both, if you go down on one side and want to replace, just the one side, then thats all you'll have to buy is the replacement puck rather than another entire set of sliders. Ive always ran Vortex, and i think replacement pucks are only around $20 ea.
