After checking my schedule it looks like I'm off Friday...Good day to ride......After seeing RRR is closed (That and Wolf Pen are favorites).....I figure.Let's put on our riding boots and go to the Tail. Well I check out TDOT and 129 is closed just after the border with SC. Rockslide. Well I may go up 52 somewhere.....Don't know yet.

Oh yes here's a vid of a cager with his head up his a** and don't see the pile of rocks.:crackup:

the dragon isnt closed, the rock slide is just south of the Foot Hills Prkwy. So just take the long scenic route up there and riding will be great ;)

Is there a way to get around this? The only Rd. (I'm aware of aware of past TN line) is Parsons Branch and Google says it's closed until May. There is also Calderwood Dam rd. but it just loops back to 129 N of Foothills Pkw.

"Ok Gang, the Dragon is open. They do not have the road closed until after the Tabicat bridge. You can get to us on the Skyway, through the smoky mountain national park, 129 from the south and NC28 from t he south. All of them excellent roads. And NO semi traffic yaaaaaa. We will stay open for limited hours until t...he road is open from the north. Again you can ride the Dragon."

It just means you have to go from the NC side and go back that way, or go up Foothills Parkway to get out to the north but that's a pretty long detour. But not a bad one if you have the time. It's supposed to be cleared Saturday afternoon.

Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tapoco-NC/Deals-Gap-Motorcycle-Resort/161167626357?ref=nf) Ok gang have completed driving both routs from TN to NC, Skyway is in almost perfect condition. 441 has a few spots that were bad this morning but I expect those to be in great shape by the weekend. NC28 and 129 from the south are also in perfect condition.

There's no problem on 28. It starts at the south end of Deal's Gap and goes all the way to SC.

Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tapoco-NC/Deals-Gap-Motorcycle-Resort/161167626357?ref=nf) Good Morning Gang, took the skyway to work only took 2 hrs so not so bad. Only added 45 min to an hour to my travel time. Still some snow on the ground and temp was at 34. The roads are clear but watch for black ice in a few spots, the snow is melting during the day then refreezing at night. I suspect most of the s...now will be gone by the end of the weekend if we keep the temps in the 60's.


Tail of the Dragon (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tail-of-the-Dragon/189631058066?ref=nf) We have an unconfirmed report that TDOT will barricade the Dragon at the state line today (Friday), preventing access to the Dragon from the NC side. TDOT estimates land slide to be clear and open to traffic Saturday @ 4pm. We will keep you up to date. Good excuse to explore Moonshiner 28.


Tail of the Dragon (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tail-of-the-Dragon/189631058066?ref=nf) Another rock slide. This time it's Little River Road in the Great Smoky Mt Park. An 8 mile long section is closed from Townsend to Metcalf Bottoms, so you'll need to take 321 in/out of Townsend. No time estimate on how long it will take to clear, but there are some big rocks.
