Pretty cool. I thought it would be a camera and a monitor in the helmet, but it's purely optics? It bends the light around your head? Neat. What about at night, does it have a way to keep headlights from blinding you?

Jaco,

haha no i dont try on stuff i cant afford.. lol.. but from holding it and knowing a little history about it i will say it is an amazing helmet, originaly come from HJC design and first ones was made by HJC, so it is a great helmet. Personaly i dont think i would want one to ride on the track bc knowing where the peroson is behind u and looking at them and not the road is a distraction lol. but i will say it is very nice for day to day riding, being able to see the cars and even group riding be able to see everyone behind u without having to have to look down at a mirror or what ever. needless to say if i had the money to waste/spend then yes i would own one, but i just dont feel comfertable spending so much for a helmet wich in most cases is only good for a couple of years if you ride alot, for a great helmet. thumbs down for the price on them,
Enjoy

So, how much heavier is it than a normal helmet, and how much higher is the center of gravity?

+1 So how is it?
Cool design and stuff, but what's the weight of that thing? I just got an Arai and it is EXTREMELY quiet when it comes to wind noise, super light and the padding is soft like a nice vagina.
I think a helmet like that (mirror concept) would be awesome! I hate not knowing what's behind me. Hell even on the track I kept looking at where my mirrors were just from the habit of doing it on the streets.

I started using my new Reevu helmet a week now and I absolutely Love it I can't stress that enough. We are so vulnerable on a motorcycle & as such, we have to make it our responsibility to be AWARE of the hazards & risks out there & not just leave it to the other road users to "see" us. Because as many of us know drivers don't see us. The blind spot on a motorcycle is huge, & many mirrors give little visibility except a great view of our elbow. Thats where the REEVU helmet is fantastic to have onboard. This helmet takes away that whole dangerous blind spot! You can clearly see from white line to white line, on both sides of the road! The mirror system is awesome in situations like merging lanes, pulling away from the side of the road (when turning your head around to get a better view of any traffic coming up behind can be very limited because of a bulky helmet & limited peripheral vision), Riding in dual lane situations, as well as intersections & also group riding.
I Used this helmet April 12th at Marietta Motorsport's Bike night and was surprised it work's just as good as day. I know a few of you asked if there is any glare @ night well honestly like a car rear view mirror the helmet adjust thus No glare that I can visibly see. If you have any questions please ask.
Video is coming shortly

There's a blind spot when you turn your head?
I put this helmet on today and found it more of a distraction. But to be fair, it may be something you have to get used to. My problem is gauging the distance between vehicles closing in on you vs the rate of speed you're pacing at. And also by having to look up into the mirror, you're actually taking your eyes off the road in front of you which is where they want to be targeted on.
We all should know the concept of "where you're looking, is where you'll end up." That applies to targets going forward of course, but my point is that you take your eyes off the target when you look in the mirror.
This concept may or may not catch on as a trend or innovative product. It's all relative to what people can justify as being safe. But like I said, for me it would be a distraction. It's still an interesting concept nonetheless.

I've heard from other sources that it takes about 15 to get used to it while riding, but after that 15 minutes, they love it and can't believe they've been missing it since they got it. The product itself interests me, but I would also want to wear it around for a little bit before I would consider throwing down $400 for it.

It does take some adjustments getting used to that's for sure. Jerk is right it's hard to judge but once your on the road you clearly get the mental image in your head what goes on behind you vs the parking lot view he had. Just like a rear view mirror on a car you shouldn't be fixated on what goes on behind you. The helmet improves rear view get a mental picture and look forward.

I tried the helmet on today also (in fact, that's me modeling the helmet as I'm being flicked off above...), my first observation is the mirror is much smaller than I though it was (about 2 inches long but I'd say about 1/3rd of an inch wide). I didn't ride with the helmet, so not sure if it's distracting when riding, but I'd think it's something you'd get used to after a little bit.
On the other hand, to Jerk's comments about taking your eyes of the road, it's certainly taking you're eyes off the road less than turning and looking over your shoulder, so net/net it should allow you to have your eyes on the road more often imho. I'm not running out to buy quite yet, but can definitely see the attraction....

seems lacking on the safety standards don't it?
http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/reevu/msx1/
The helmet is currently ECE approved and meets British Motorcycle Sport ACU Gold standards. It has also passed INMETRO (Brazil) safety requirements and it can be used in all of South America.
http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/reevu/
The system worked much better on an upright motorcycle, like the Triumph Tiger or BMW K1200LT rather than a sportbike. When the rider was leaned too far forward, only the sky was visible in the mirror.

Don't follow. ECE standards are very comparable to Snell. And the only reason its not Snell approved is that it hasn't yet been tested in the US.

kewl didn't know that. but until its tested you really don't know if it meets them or not do you?

The point is that Europe's ECE standards are very close to Snell standards, and still much more stringent than DOT standards. I wouldn't say it was lacking in any manner.

Some light reading about helmets and impacts. I don't know about the SNELL 2010 ratings but in my eyes, I'd take an ECE or BSI helmet over a SNELL anyday of the week. :)

X2 I agree feel's very solid and well made. I quoted what was on Reevu's website below.
"Leading edge Italian design ensures that the helmet not only looks great, has amazing aerodynamics making the helmet quiet and stable, and is well ventilated but also meets and exceeds the world’s most rigorous safety and construction standards such as ECE, DOT, ACU and FIM.
"Each Reevu helmet manufactured is hand assembled with perfectly integrated spare parts and special interchangeable internal padding. This offers the wearer substantial softness for high quality comfort" says Miller. Each helmet is manufactured with the most developed technology and is hand assembled to ISO 9001/2000 certification standards."
