Hey! I'm new on this site, but I'm also a member of alsportbike.com. Thought I would pass along the information that there is going to be a very large sportbike ride from Auburn, AL to Pine Mt, GA on 10 April. The thread link for info is below. If anyone is interested in meeting us somewhere along the way please let me know! I am moving to Warner Robins, GA soon, so I would love to get to meet some GA riders! :woot:

How is Pine Mt vs Cheaha(AL)? I was thinking of doing Cheaha this weekend, but who knows.

Edit: Scratch that....just went to the AL site and it looks like you guys are trying to ride 30-40 riders deep. I can't see myself riding with that many ppl.

We are just heading there in that large group. When we get there we split off in groups of about 5 based on ability and just have rendezvous times and locations. We would never ride the twisties in that big a group.

Cheaha is a ton of fun. The Hwy leading to it (49?) is actually one of the toughest roads I've been on, and Cheaha compared to PM is much more technical. If you aren't comfortable on your bike it won't be as much fun as PM. Not as many sweepers to get your knee down on either. Personally I like PM better...fewer oh shiot moments and I like the pavement better.

Gotcha..., I was just wondering which Mt was better to ride since I haven't made it to PM. I like technical, and thought Cheaha wasn't really anything to write home about. But it's still fun and NO COPS!

I like PM better, but likely because I haven't been there that much yet so I haven't gotten bored :D

Well maybe I'll hit up both places over the weekend. Never been to PM, but always love a new place I've never seen before.

Hey GSX1R(if ur here) you've been to both right? Since you're the Chuck Norris of South Atlanta, what do u think?

Lil Red- do u ever hit up the N Ga mountains?

Well god damn.

Let's stick to the obvious, no taking it out of context. In fact the Ego's I'm talking about are the exact ones you find in "Intermediate" class of a track day.

Well not everyone is like that in INT, just the few that think they're way too good for Novice class, and complain they're too slow etc. They jump up to INT without enough experience and are "dangerously" all over the place. It's like that on the street too. People tend to ride beyond their skill levels, or riding dangerously all over the roads. I'm pretty sure the seasoned rider can spot a Squirrel out pretty easily.

Not saying I'm a great rider, I've just seen way too many accidents that could have been avoided(rider error). I know u know what I'm talking about right?;)

I went to PM and Warm Springs today. Lots of bikes, mainly HD's, and plenty of people. WS is having there Spring Fling festival this weekend so there are vendors and bands. Except for Daytona, never seen so many old flabby arms in sleeveless shirts. I just do not understand the dress code for HD owners. I'll be riding the mountain Sun picking off as many HD's as I can.

Saw a Dr friend of mine today, who rides, and he said there was a bad mc accident on PM that weekend. A rider drifted over the centerline in a turn and hit some other riders. No deaths but broken bones. Be careful out there.

Yeah I was there when that wreck happened. we ran up on it going about 90 out of a turn and almost got wiped out ourselves (couldnt see it until it was almost too late). Crazy wreck.

They had a bunch of helicopters there an everything. We cleared the mountain and got lunch while they cleaned it up. What looked like was once a Goldwing was upside down in the grass. Must have been pretty frickin bad to do that!

Oh...and same day some idoit on a sportbike went off on that wide left sweeper (the one with a little red dirt at the top just before it starts decreasing). He was fine though. I see people panic in that turn all the time.

That amount of speed is way to much for PM. Too many bikes, bicycles an cars around each corner. I love to ride it in a spirited manner but you must weigh the risk/reward. IMHO
