1st of all not sure if this is the right section but oh well...

Alright so i recently spent the night in jail for being a dumb/smart ass...Hauling ass and then "stopping" for police...so i decided to lay low for a while, wont be riding until its all over with...since i wont be riding i decided to paint my bike....

Right now its all broken down getting ready for prep...
going to start after i get all the materials i need, there will be a list so i can keep track along with pictures a little later...

I think im going to paint all the fairings either gun metal grey w/ metal flake, or white cant decide likely grey..i might do something with the accent plastics as well havent decided yet...

things i need:

Lot-so- Sand paper 400grit, 1500 grit and 2000grit
A lot of paint...
I'll probably buy the gun from harbor freight tools (anyone used one from them before?)
painting tape

may be updating with a bunch of questions about wet sanding and clear coating later on down the line...

should i paint the lowers matching the rest of the fairings or leave them black? I was thinking grey, white and gold with all the accents and the lowers white, but that would be a B**** to keep clean and at times i get lazy...

any ideas would be great..

EDIT: How the f*** do i get the gas out of the tank??? i cant get the hoses off the bottom either. Do i just flip it upside down and unbolt the "fuel pump?" from the bottom?

disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail and put a bucket under it. Cycle the key on and off and let the fuel pump just pump it all out. tape up the pump, remove the cap, tape up the cap, and get to work.

In order to pick out a gun you will need to provide the compressor specs you are using with it.

HVLP is industry standard for auto painting. If your compressor can support it it would be the best route.

With the bike painted this cheaply...im not *AS* worried about dumping my bike and ****ing the paint...because unless its cracked and ****ed completely, i can just rattle can the shit again and be done with it...so besides the outcome and how much i like white bikes theres more then just looks and being "low key" to me doing it...let me know what you guys think
