What are the road conditions around Helen?

Does someone know, there a web site, or a number to call?

Richard Russel is closed just after Raven cliffs heading out of Helen. But if someone is so inclined it would be easy to go around the blockade. :) I'm not sure how far you can go from the 129/180 side.

129 is good to Murphy NC, BUT,,,,,there are spots of gravel still. Definitely do not go wide and get close to the white line, gravel is all over the edge of the asphalt.

Also GSP has a nice "low profile" tan Tahoe...Be sure and notice!

The weather and ride was excellent. C'mon up!

State 75 is in good shape also. and 180 between 75 and 129 is good shape also.

I kinda wish I'd went pass the blockade on RR and get an "eyes on" of the situation. A couple locals told me that the road could be closed for quite some time. and this seems to bear it out.

It seems the budget chunch wrighting, is on the wall.

But this is just one of many good roads in the area.

129 is fine ... 60 is good also ... 180 has spots that are bad... Stay slow on 180 imo... Richard R is not to bad but the gravel blemds in really well... 75 is good up above hellen....

DOT says the road is washed out but will be reopened on March 31. I take it you saw the actual damage and disagree with their assessment.
