See the thread "To lower or not to lower?" in Motorcycles Only section.

Has she ridden before and is she experienced? I'm usually not one for lowering bikes, and the VFR is already kind of a piggy bike for a smaller rider and a lot to handle for a beginner? I have no idea if she is experienced here or owned and ridden other larger bikes, but if any of these answers are no, this is a really bad idea.
You are generally going to find on top of the fact that you are changing the geometry and handling of the bike, you actually make it harder to ride. The suspension becomes harsh and doesn't have near the room to work. If you don't get the front nearly as low, you end up with a bike that doesn't want to turn and is hard to steer. All of this with a bike that is too big for a smaller female just makes for a bad experience all the way around.

Its already a low bike to begin with.....teach her to ride a proper bike.
