An old clip that I just came across....I have seen some incredible saves but have never seen anyone pick a bike up that was down before.

Lots of great vids there. Plenty of evidence that you should never give up.
ha! that was Jamie Hacking a few years ago coming onto the front straight at Barber. I was at that race. I sure miss Hackers' presence in the AMA.
this one is still my favorite save of all time:

no doubt!!! there was no time for puckering up on that one.. you see these guys do that.. then you see people like Ramm low side on turn 3 at RA going like 40 hahahaha..
Ive had more saves than i care to count, the latest one demo'ing the R1 when the rear slid out about 3 feet in T4, snapping back putting the bike into a tank slapper.
I remember another one at Roebling Road. A good friend of mine, Jawanza Lamar and i were racing together, i was leading the race. He had a damn superbike motor and i KNEW he was gonna get me on HP on the long front straight, so i was riding my ass off to stay in front of him thru the corners. He caught me at the end of the front straight, wasnt able to pass, and i got a little greedy on the throttle exiting T2, bike went completely sideways, snapped back throwing me up in the air, hands on the bars, feet straight out behind me. SOMEHOW i landed back on the bike, just in time to see Jawanza make the pass headed to T3. He told me after the race when he saw my bike starting to step out, he just backed out of the gas waiting for the launch sequence and couldnt believe i actually managed to stay on.
Theres been many other instances similar to that one, all leading up to the one that i couldnt save at Barber. That launch ended up with a broken collar bone and a broken pelvis and essentially ended my "racing for points/championships" career. That was my first ever ride in the flashey bus. Homey never wants to do THAT again!

HAHAH i dont blame ya Homey, I would never want to do that either, but its the risk all of us take everytime we wake up in the morning.. Glad you had the chance to save yourself on what sounds like would have been some mean high sides.. i still get my pucker up moments when i power slide.. so something i still got to get use to.. im still a young whipper snapper and still got much to learn on this sport..lol

LOL, sometimes it makes you wonder...sometimes you save them, sometimes you don't.
The VERY FIRST trackday after I highsided at Barber was at Jennings, Keith told me to take his 636 out to get a feel for it since we were going to be endurance racing it. It was the afternoon, so I'd built my confidence back up and was rolling okay. Took the 636 out and got a feel for and gradually started picking up the pace. As you know, T2 is almost WOT (for me at least) on a 600 or smaller and T12 is pretty much buried to the stop. I got a great run out of 11, breathed out of it to help the bike pitch in and then back into the gas, about halfway through the turn the back spun up and the first thing through my mind was "you gotta be kidding God! My first day back and I'm gonna highside AGAIN!" Somehow I managed to stay in the gas and get it through the turn but when it caught, boy howdy! Feet off the pegs, butt well off the seat when I landed my right thigh caught the seat and I was able to pull myself back on it...but I immediately pitted and felt like I was going to be sick when pulled my helmet off.
I am an oddball, during all my years of trackdays and racing, I've wrecked 4 times...3 of which have been highsides. I don't understand it...it's usually the other way around. I have also been "that guy" that highsided leaving pit lane for practice, not 10 seconds after Chuck told me to "take it easy, it's cold out there!" :D A night in a hotel room and a tube of JB Weld later, I made practice the next morning and could've pushed the bike around faster than I rode it. :D
