Sure, DMG can be blamed to an extent. But this is happening to a sport that already had marginal attendance before a severe economic downtown. Many have said the racing is actually better now. It's best to let the blame go around to all areas, not just on DMG. I believe most sporting attendance is down.

What doesnt help is when fans become non -fans cause they ruined the series.

It's best to let the blame go around to all areas, not just on DMG. I believe most sporting attendance is down.with over 150k attending WSBK events in some venues, 200k attending events in GP, 100k plus in multple venues for BSB etc. there is NO comparison to the damage DMG has done to our domestic series. the others are thriving, while ours is on life support. no live tv coverage, no title sponsor, only 2 factory teams participating, while going full throttle in the other series' around the world? why are honda AND yamaha AND kawasaki AND BMW AND aprilia AND suzuki AND ducati all in full tilt with factory teams in WSBK, BSB, austrailian and japanese superbikes, as well as GP? yes, you can put 99% of the blame right at DMG's doorstep.

we are not dissing the series. we are voicing our displeasure with the absolute inept, utterly blundering job DMG has done since taking over a few years ago. they have nearly run the series into the ground with all the ridiculous NASCAR type changes they attempted to make. (anyone remember the brilliance of rolling starts, and safety cars on track with bikes at speed?) how about staying up til midnight to watch races that took place 8 hours earlier, on tape delay no less. we lovve the sport and the series, which is why we stay up late, attend events, and even tape and DVR them when possible. but to say its not DMG's fault, well...yeah, they are doing a bang up job promoting the sport.

by the way, this an excerpt from an interview with Perry Melneciuc, the owner of Project 1 Atlanta's team, you remember them? they fielded Jake Zemke for the opening daytona round, only couldnt keep going beyond daytona because of this..."And in the end, I'm really disappointed to say, every single potential sponsor that we spoke to, it's always the same comment: "There's no value in the series." There's no return on their investment. And there are no indications of any future return on their investment. I don't know how to get people to pour money on top of a fire when there's nothing in it for them in the end. That's kind of the bottom line."

top level rider, top results, yet NO INTEREST. THANX DMG!! hey, lets schedule the 1st race in March, then, not have another one for 2 full months!! that'll keep folks interested!!

and more...
"Then, some of the larger companies that could've had their finances there to do the thing, be a title sponsor of the team, they do an analysis, and they go, and there's a reason that there are no outside-of-the-industry sponsors there. There's just no life there now. The absence of a live TV package for every weekend, an aggressive marketing strategy, some scheduling stability. It's so difficult. You sit down across from these people and you feel like an asshole. They ask you questions and you can't give them the answers, because you don't have them, because it's not there. It's difficult."

promoting the sport has not been a strong suit...I'll have to agree...showing a commercial an hour before start time is a waste of money...and a few posters in the local 7-11 yay....
its sort of a cycle....sponsors aren't putting up the big bucks cuz the fans aren't there....and it goes around again...fans don't show cuz the big sponsors aren't dumping $$$ into it...
instead of DVR'ing it...show up at the races when they're close enough....you don't have to love DMG to support the riders right?

So sad to see really good riders that have to beg fans for money just to get to the next round.

I go to all the local races at Barber and Road Atlanta, my bad no Road Atlanta this year.
And on top of everything that Muffin Man stated, how in the hell are we suppose to enjoy 6-7 race weekends a year. DMG F'in sucks.
