A bimota is sort of a frameless Ducati. The frame does not connect the headstock to the swingarm. Both are connected to the engine.

Sorry about the huge picture. The trellis section at the front and the swingarm are available in carbon fiber.

I wonder if eliminating the frame really does drop that much weight after all is said and done... after all, you still have to strengthen the engine case to withstand the added stress :-/

Ducati 1098: 443 lbs.
Bimota with Ducati 1098 engine: 375 lbs.
It's not all in the frame, but some is. The carbon fiber version of the DB7 is only 15 pounds lighter than the standard version.
