Ok, I have put up two different ideas, with a mixed bag of results. I'm going to post this up as a poll, and the resulting winner will be planned on further.

We can also use this as a thread for new suggestions on alternative social events.

Option #1- Two wheels to Helen, with a float down the Hooch. We would all meet at the Chevron at the top of 400 one early Saturday, ride some adrenaline pumping twisties to Helen, trade the bikes for tubes, and float the river for a little while. Saturday night, those that want to stay in Helen, like myself, can close down one of their bars up there with some cold beer, good food, and good times. Sunday, hopefully not too hungover, we get up and finish the ride home. I would be open to using my room as a storage locker for everyone's riding leathers while we tube, for those that would rather not, or simply can't stay the night. Those that want to finish the ride Saturday, can, that way.

Option #2- A Saturday evening catfish tourney at the stocked pond in Lawrenceville, Twin Bridges Lake. Prizes, no prizes, it doesn't matter. If we do prizes, then we will have to do a buy in, whereas if we don't then the only fee would be to fish in that lake. I would contact them to see about their rules for allowing this, and details would be posted up.

Option #3- Write In- This is where you post your own idea, location, for things to do in addition to the usual bike nights and riding events.

I'm going to put a 2 week deadline on this poll, so by Monday, 20 June we will then put plans together for whatever we decide.

Thanks, and I hope to see large participation in this.

Mike

Count on it. Based on the overwhelming, and anticipated, lean towards tubing in this hot a$$ weather it would seem appropriate to plan that one first. I'll call them tonight and see what the rates are for groups, I'm going to plan on 10 right now. I have a certain count of 8 and am sure people will flock to it when things get more definite.

Updates to come tomorrow.

Sure, everything on here is planned around you ;)
Seriously though, it's looking like 9 July is the first opportunity we can make it happen with everything going on. I have a trip to see my folks in NC this weekend, and with all those other events, either 9 or 16 July.

So here's the deal:

There are two main places to tube from
1) Cool River
2) The Helen Waterpark

My vote is on using the waterpark, they are $3 bucks a tube plus tax for either a 1- 1/2 hr run or a 2 1/2 to 3 hr run. I would say to do the longer of the two just to cool down after the ride. Plus, they have these AWESOME bright pink tubes, Eric you'll love those I'm sure.

Cool River is 5 bucks for about the same thing, so it's not a huge difference. Less than 30 people doesn't require a reservation and they are open 7 days a week from 9 AM to 6 PM.

Looking at the calendar again, I would say that we need to do this on Jul 16th. If everyone is good with that, then we can go ahead and put it on lock and we can get hotel rooms and such earlier.

So chime in Big 5 that voted for it, and let me know what your thoughts are.

I do all the time.

Blech, grossed myself out on that joke.

Ok, so weekend of the 16th it is. Say 9:30 at the Chevron at the top of 400? Get to Helen around 11:30- 12?

Oh, and we don't need reservations for parties under 30 members, and I think we are still well under that. So, there will be no details on that until we get there.

Bad news. Hotels are stupid expensive, and me and my lady have a ton of other things going on. So we may end up caging it up there, tubing with ya'll and then heading home that night. She can't handle all those miles in one run on her back.

The weekend before we are going to the shuttle launch in Florida, and the weekend before that is my family reunion, so we have a ton in hotel fees already and can't swing another one. I honestly didn't think they would be that expensive for a decent room.

Just an FYI so all can plan.

well, i'd say we can plan it later....i have my rally the following weekend anyways so it totally wouldn't hurt my feelings but i do always got something going on....between racing, rally, work, etc...
I'll talk to hubby maybe we'll just ride up n back on the same day too...
