Changed my oil the other night and it looked milky. Every possible scenario went through my head because milky oil=blown head gasket to me. I changed the oil a another time but it was the same.

I went to order a head gasket after calling a local shop to see what the costs were for labor. At Lawrenceville Suzuki a mechanic told me it might be air or condensation since Friday was our first warm day in a while.

He said to bring it up to temperature and to look again. I didn't believe him but got the oil and went home to check it out. After warming the headers up enough to burn off the oil the sight glass looked better.

Went for a ride and it now looks normal. Whew!

Thanks Lawrenceville Suzuki for some practical knowledge and teaching an old dog a new trick.

Pretty common this time of year. Glad it worked out.

If condensation dripped down into the oil, wouldn't it still be in the oil (actually under it) ? OTOH, if the oil reaches 200+ degrees, it would burn off as steam - I guess.

Still, enough water to show in the sight glass would give me the heebeegeebees. If it were my bike, I'd drain the oil and check the strainer. But, that's just me.
