This weekend starting Friday night Atlanta Dragway is having a race where all the proceeds will be going to the local children's charities and disable Veterans Support Groups.
It will be an 1/8 mile ET style race so any bike is welcome and can be competitive with the fastest of bikes.
An NHRA license will be required for any bike that runs 6.39 or less in the 1/8th. (Pretty much any Hayabusa, ZX-14 and all the liter bikes)
It is for a good cause and will be a great chance for you to run your bike on a great track.
Friday night will be open for Test and Tune as well as qualifying. Saturday there will be one qualifying run before the race.

wow, NHRA license for any liter bike. That alone should make sure there isnt a huge turn out.

That is not neccesarily true. We have alot of 600's show up to race. Last week Jimmy Heisler took the win putting out two wheelie bar box bikes, one being a 6 time track champion, on a 2002 ZX6 foot shifting. Currently Brian Wilson is in 3rd place in the Summit points series is on a beat to hell 1997 GSXR 600. As a matter of fact there are only 6 out of 25 bikes that run in the point series who have NHRA licenses.
On another note, a majority of people who have never drag raced before who come out to race on a liter bike very rarely go below the 6.40 cut off. It takes many passes before doing so.
One other thing I did not mention in the 1st post. The American Legion is putting on this race not Atlanta Dragway. I just wanted to make sure they get credit for it as it is a charity event.

While the race did not have the turn out we would have liked due to it being held on a holiday weekend we still had fun and were offered a 400.00 purse for 1st, 100.00 for 2nd and 50.00 for runner up.
9 bikes showed up with a buy back offered in the 1st and 2nd round. 6 bikes were wheelie bar bikes, 2 were Hayabusas and 1 was an older Honda 600.
In the end it came down to 2 Hayabusas in the Semi-finals and 1 wheelie bar bike with a bye run to the finals. I ended up going to the finals against the wheelie bar bike and gave him the win by a redlight.
Hopefully they will have the event again in the future and hold it on another date.
