Hey guys,
Looking to get into riding and just found out that my apt. complex doesn't allow motorcycles. I live just north of the highlands, and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions?
Thanks,
J

Bout the only thing I can think of is an enclosed storage unit. Heard that used several times.

Yep, break the lease since they do not allow a legal mode of transportation.

As much as I'd like to move/break the lease, I'd probably have better luck winning the lottery and buying my whole building than getting the gf to move so I can have a motorcycle.
Yes, I know... time to get a new gf too then : )
I was thinking more along the lines of a nearby garage or somewhere with discounted rates for motorcycles but wasn't having much success in my searches...

I like in an apartment complex without a garage(for about a month longer), but I've been storing my bike in a 5x10 storage unit. It's near Brookhaven and costs $59/month. It's a pain in the ass, but it's better than it getting stolen and it keeps it out of the weather. I can't wait to move into our new house with a garage.

Why doesn't the apt. complex like motorcycles? I can't even think of a good reason, I mean if kids are allowed then bikes should be also.

it's an enclosed parking deck in between the two buildings of the complex - I'm guessing if a lot of people started parking bikes they fear the noise would upset the tenants. I told them I would bring it up the freight elevator and never even turn it on in the garage but they wouldn't budge. apparently its standard language in all Georgia Apartment Association leases...

Dude, please....I repeat, please dont leave your bike out there.....I used to live in Buckhead in a gated community, WITH CAMERAS and had 2 bikes stolen. I live up North in the Sand and I have a garage now right under me....Keep it at a friends house or whatnot!!

Everyone,
Thanks so much for the advice. Sounds like I am best off trying to find a friend with a garage, or maybe go the storage route since at least it is secure. I really appreciate all the posts and support!
Best,
J

Just move to another apartment complex that offers attached garages or detached garages. Detached garages are usually no more than 60 or 70 bucks
I guess your first mistake was asking the apt complex if they allow motorcycles. Its better to ask for forgiveness than permission. I dont think I ever told any of my apt complex's about my motorcycles. Of course they never saw it cause I always got a first floor with access to keep the bike inside the apt. If your g/f doesnt want to move....leave her there.

You're right. Its too late now but you should have just bought one and seen if they made a stink. With a stock pipe it would be more than quiet enough but I doubt the owners know this.

That's the same thing that I was thinking, but I guess if you allow a sportbike inside the Harley's might not be too far behind and those can get loud as hell

i just moved into a condo in dunwoody and there are a couple other bikes in the complex, so im not as worried about my bike being stolen(plus i can park close to my unit and have an alarm so i could tell if someone was messing with it as long as im there) but more about the weather getting to it....what part of atlanta are you in?

I would ask them what the hell is the problem with a legal mode of transportation, especially condisdering present and future gas prices!!

In the past, it's been stated that parking garages have a liability concern because of the automatic entry and exit gates. If they mess up and touch a car, worst case is scratched paint and not always that. They could injure a motorcyclist, directly or by knocking you down.
