Just returned from the Tail Of the Dragon. I arrived there July 8th and woke up today to ride early in the morning to avoid heavy traffic on the Dragon. Our group stayed at the Motorcycle resort near 129 so close to all the action and activies the Dragon provides us rider's. This morning started out with a hitch Alli's woke up and made us all coffee tho I might not require that (haha). After we had some Coffee in front of our room we saw 2 rider's going up the hill in front of Deal Gap resort at a high rate of speed. The neighbors next to us mentioned that crew might be your first casualty. 10 seconds into saying that we heard this Loud boom and jumped into my truck knowing very well the rider crashed into the tree head on. I honestly didn't know what to expect driving up the hill in front of the resort fearing the rider might have died As we proceeded up we saw the tree damaged and stopped. He was lying down near the road near a rock and was really hard to access due to the drop in the road. I provided some Video on Picking his bike up from the drop .

Let's just say the Rider is hopefully ok he was rushed to the hospital but they had complication there as the ambulance that came to the site broke a radiator hose and they had to wait for another one. Let's just say it was one thing after another today. I'm glad to be back I was going to stay till sunday but my bike had some issues so I returned home a little early. The Other rider is going to join Gsb shorly I mentioned that i was going to post this. He is going to give me a call to tell me how his friend is doing. I drove him to pick up his buddy Dodge Ramm cuss he didn't want to ride back (Don't blame him).

New folks always go flying up wheelie hill full throttle......only to realize there is a near 90-degree turn at the end of it. Go Darwin!

Often times with a radar gun nestled in there too.

That's the owner's of the Resort Tundra Crewmax with some cool add on's. I liked his bumper setup tho I want that setup on my Tundra (road armor ) front and rear aftermarket strong bumper's vs our factory Pos thin bumper's with little protection.

Damn... That bike did not look good. Snapped swing arm? but the front fairing was intact (I'm confused). Figured at the pace he was riding he knew the roads... Guess not.

Always hate to hear somebody went down. I hope the rider is okay.

I love sitting down there and listening to everybody hammer it going up Wheelie Hell. I noticed on the "death map," a mark on Wheelie Hell from a few years back. I wondered how it happened. Anything can and often will happen.

found out from Shannon he was airlifted out....
they came down the hill turned in the parking lot and went straight back up....so they know the road at least well enough....

there were 3 more wrecks on saturday including my husband...he's fine low sided in Shade tree. Killboy has it all so as soon as he gets them uploaded he's going to send them to me.

today they had to use a crane to take a bike off the side of the mountain....

Glad your back and made it. Yea that was the worst weekend on record for accident claims. I've been there a few times but nothing like this.

Get some rest I took a nap today

Update received an email today from his friend.

Eric,

Just wanted to let you know I really appreciate ya’ll helping me out the other day with my buddy that wrecked at the dragon. He is doing ok minus some injuries. He broke several ribs, right shoulder blade, several vertebra, and has a blood clot in his kidney (which I believe they have fixed up). Other than that he is in good spirits! Doctors say he will be just fine just needs a little bit of time to heal up. Big ups to you and your friend for helping me I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you guys! Anyways keep riding and stay safe. Big rep sent to the Georgia sportbike community coming soon.

Thanks again,

Wayne

Very glad to hear that rider is doin well. It's great to see another rider that has lived to tell about his accident. I hope he realizes how fortunate he is and learns from his mistakes. Keep us informed Eric.
