Is there a way I can take shows recorded on our DVR and burn them to a DVD? I have looked in the manual and it mentions a USB cable port and ethernet port but I don't see any mention of how to transfer the show to my computer. Looking for advice before I screw something up big time.

I have a DirecTv DVR and I think I looked this up a long time ago.... but its useless... yes the DVR has all of those ports but they are disabled out of the box from what i've read. I could be wrong... been a longtime since ive looked into it.
UPDATE : Was flipping through the DirecTV forums... apparently anything recorded to the DVR's hard drive is encrypted and will only play on the original recorder.

What they said. The USB ports are disabled. They put them on the box for future upgrades about 4 years ago. Guess the future hasn't got here yet.

they are correct, you can copy them to a new dvr, but that is all.
