Apparently only HM Plant Honda & Swan Yamaha can afford to run full WSBK spec bikes now.

Awesome!!!! Personally, I like the bikes being close to what you can buy off the showroom floor. Of course, some manafactuers will pull the whole "LE" trick from time to time for homogulation, ala Yamaha in '06, but overall in this economy, they wouldn't. I like to see larger grids with more people running close racing for the show and to see some talent that may have the skills but not the pocketbook to go racing. Plus, if the national level superbikes are closer to stock, then that makes it that much more prestigious to be racing the full on superbikes at world level. Of course, they're even looking at cost cutting measures as well. No one needs more cost cutting and time difference than motogp. They're ridiculously expensive and not much faster than the WSBK bikes. Plus the racing isn't near as interesting as in WSBK and some of the national bikes.

best thing to come out of this trend is that worldwide riders could get wildcards or even run a dual series round ala AMA and WSBK back in the good ole days at laguna. thats what we need again!!

The wildcards aren't due to the bikes, they're not happening as much strictly because the fast riders cost their teams/sponsors too much money to allow them to run a different series. The riders being extremely successful at the top of the different series is what's going to keep more wildcards from happening.

As for the rules - this is what the OEM's have wanted for many years now and what we were working towards back before DMG. The BSB thing is definitely a step towards teams being able to buy factory built superbikes or kits without having to be a factory team. If the OEM's can build one kit for most of the major national series then it becomes cost effective to do so and offer it to anyone with the budget.
