Eh, it's pure panic... Cook (the new CEO) has been with the company for 12 years, and knows what he's doing.

Jobs might be a bit of a maniac, but he doesn't design or build the products - he just pushes the design teams hard to make things better than they think they can. As long as there are other leaders in the company who can continue to do that sort of thing (and Jobs hasn't backed away from that position, he's still involved in doing that) they'll be fine...

I'm sure the stock will go right back up in a week or two. Similar sort of thing happened when Gates walked from MS.... (Of course, he left Balmer in charge who hasn't done SHIT since...)

Not that flash is all that great but as long as developers continue to use it across platforms its a necessary evil. The fact that Apple won't allow it is not going to make it go away.

Apple ain't skeered!

They are just much smarter than you and have decided that you cannot handle teh Flashes. Or an SD card. Or to be able to change your own battery. Or to decide what apps you want to install.

Or to use your brain. Just drink the koolaid, let Apple do all your thinking for you and go stand in line for 48 hours when they release a marginally updated device like all the other good little robots.

Amazingly after announcing last nite stock traded down about $20 a share, today it ended flat to slightly up for the day. I'd hoped for a bigger drop to get in again, just have to wait.

Cook has been running the show for the past year or so, so it's not a huge difference except perhapes emotionally.

An 8-K is the “current report” companies must file with the SEC to announce major events that shareholders should know about.

In this case, the form notifies investors of the resignation of Steve Jobs as CEO; Jobs' appointment as Chairman of the Board; COO Tim Cook's promotion to CEO; and the appointment of Cook to the Board.

In connection with Mr. Cook's appointment as Chief Executive Officer, the Board awarded Mr. Cook 1,000,000 restricted stock units (http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/320193/000118143111047180/xslF345X03/rrd320669.xml). Fifty percent of the restricted stock units are scheduled to vest on each of August 24, 2016 and August 24, 2021, subject to Mr. Cook's continued employment with Apple through each such date.
