Im putting together a 4hr Intermediate course that will go over the basics of shooting, sight alignment/picture, defensive carry and malfunctions/reload drills. I am looking at a Wed or Saturday, or both as long as I have two people. The course will be taught in Athens. The Wed course will be done midday, late afternoon and the Sat course will be a morning class.
The course cost is $50 and you will need:
1. Gun (I have one if you need)
2. Ammo (200rnds)
3. Holster, mag pouch and atleast one spare mag or moon clip
4. Water
5. Eye/ear protection ( I have enough for two people)
6. If you carry concealed, bring what attire (purse, over shirt etc) you wear concealed
7. comfortable clothing
8. Open mind
post up what day you would prefer and I will either host one course or two to meet the demands
Interested on a Sat class
But Athens is kinda far from Atlanta plus traffic (although I've never drove to Athens before)
What time would the Sat morning class start?

I would start around 10am, so nobody has to be up at the crack of dawn. It takes roughly 45min from Lawrenceville area, maybe less depending on speed. Im open to teach it at another outside range in the Gwinnett area if anyone has access to one.

dont know yet, just taking a poll as to how many students vs me and which days are practical. I am going to give this thread until Sun. Then post up, I would say Sat 17th in the evening or Wed Sep 7th/14th in the evening also.
I like to run with no more than 4 to a class before I have to pay one of my other instructors to step in and help out. Plus we can do more with a smaller class. Sat classes are a little harder on me, just because I have to "share" the one pistol range my club has and we cannot walk down range or mid range if there are others that are using the bench rest back at the 50yrd line. So, I have to plan ahead and submit a request for use

I'd prefer Athens since I'm in Dawsonville. I'm good with the 7th. I can't do the 14th or the 17th.

So are you saying the 7th is good or still waiting to get 4? I just want to know so I keep the time slot open on my calendar.
I'll PM you my contact info.
Thanks for putting this together.

Hey Will. How many more of these courses will you do? Wednesdays are perfect for me, but I have appointments on the 7th. I would like to do one of these, but it'll probably be closer to November. My XD-9 was stolen out of my car a few months ago and I've been trying to save up for a M&P .45 (unless you have a better suggestion). I've always liked the 1911. Thanks man!

I will do them more often now that the summer has quited down and most cops/security have their training hours in, it free's me up. I have a G17 you can use for the course and Ill use my Kimber Classic Custom 1911A1 with 2.5# pull ;) If your looking for a gun, there are plenty out there, look on www.theoutdoorstrader.com and you will find them. I like the M&P lineup, but it is a personal preference to the shooter what they like. I used to shoot .45 and a min of a .40 for everyday carry and range. However, now that I shoot almost every other day, the 9mm is cheaper to shoot and easier for drills. I carry a .45 for ccw, but im just as comfortable using a 9mm since it is all shot placement and I carry more ammunition in the firearm, so more zombies I can take out ;)

Wanted to let you all know what a great job Will did working me through a modified basic/intermediate pistol course. Thanks again for all instruction. I'm looking forward to getting my wife to go through your course. I promise to get my off (stupid) hand under control before the next round of instruction.

I teach it in an Air Soft facility, same techniques but in a safe setting. I could see if the club will allow me to stay there after dark to host such a course, or if the local indoor range will let me rent half the bay, but that could be expensive.
I have some land up near Helen, I could do it at, but I would have to go up there and clear out a path as it is set up for hunting now and I allowed it to be overgrown. Let me see and Ill get back with you on live fire excersises
