What does she need or want to know? What kind of camera is she learning to use?
If its just technical stuff (like what an f-stop is, or how aperture affects depth-of-field, etc) then there are more than a few people here on the board that could explain that in a single outing.
If she is trying to learn about composition, or the more artistic/subject side of things or would just rather go do an actual class for the technical stuff, then there are a few guys on a local Atlanta flickr group that run intro classes whose info I can pass along.

I realize this isn't on the Northside, but it's a great Photography Store, all the employees are pro photographers, and they offer some good photography classes. Check out ShowCase Photography on Cheshire Bridge Rd. in Atlanta. They have a website with all the info.

The Roswell Photographic Society gives instruction via the Roswell Parks and Recreation Center. They offer classes occasionally.

I started attending a workshop setup through meetup.com. This particular one is on studio lighting. I signed up for the little knowledge I'll get out of it. lighting, shadows, posing a model & all that good stuff. Most of my shooting is outdoors landscape. Its great learning in a studio with all the lighting provided. This one is in Norcross.
