So the biggest hit comes to retirees and "high end" insurance policy holders??? Asking for clarification not political debate.

that is def. 2 of the issues. i thing it will be some time before all the hidden gems are sorted.
from an accountant perspective, i had not thought of the current hits to coporate income due to the future changes to
taxes on retirement plans. that could be ugly for companies already hit by a bad economy.

You should probably read a legitimate article and not an op-ed if you're looking for an objective perspective on the plan.
The linked article says 'Opinion article' very prominently on the page.

The tax on high end plans is currently bugging me as I think almost all of us in my company will qualify, and we don't have huge insurance benefits. We have a high deductible w/HSA policy. The purpose of the tax, according to the dems, is because they believe that high end policies encourage the beneficiaries to over use health care services which drives up the cost for everybody. I don't think so. I know nobody in my group goes to the doctor unless they really need to. We have, as a company and after lots of discussion among the shareholders (5 out of 7 employees), agreed that good health insurance coverage is better than higher salaries based on the cost/benefit relationship. I don't see why the government should have any say in that decision.
