This will set an interesting precedent if it passes. I'm for states having the freedom to decide on marijuana, not like they are trying to legalize crack or meth. For the record I do not smoke anything other than an occassional cigar, so I don't have a horse in this race. It will be an interesting fall no doubt.

What do you all think about this? We have had many discussion on legalizing marijuana, but now it's actually on the ballot.

Good. As soon as another Bush type gets in office they will enforce the federal regulations and again step on state's rights.

That's what I was thinking. I can see some using this issue as a platform for more Federal vs States rights fighting.

Seems like a good platform for it to me. If the Marijuana is grown in CA and sold in CA to CA residents then the Fed has no business in it.

it's the biggest cash crop the state has now, unless the fed can show it's worse for you than alcohol or tobacco I think they should be allowed to legalize it

can they test for it in traffic stops? it has been shown to impair unlike tobacco right?

Legalize and Tax!

Pay off the national debt the next day.

Tax the most trustworthy person in the loop. The Grower. He'll see that the tax is passed along.

The cost to produce grade A hooch is roughly $10.00 a pound (Without the artificial law breaker upcharge)

Police say the same hooch is "Street value" (Whatever that is) of $2k.....somebody is making a killing at this profit margin (The drug cartels)

Tax the grower at how many sq. ft. is cultivated. (I would gladly pay a $1,000 tax per year on a 10 x 10 ft area)

So let's stop sending our money to Mexican drug zars that a using the proceeds to fuel a border war killing hundreds yearly. And keep that money in the USA.

You could say I'm opinionated on this subject.

If all you found wrong with my argument is the "national debt" statement I've made progress. I really doubt it would bring in over a couple billion. But a couple billion here, and a couple billion there,,,,,soon you are talking real money.

You are right that it all adds up....and I am not picking on you; however, just for the standard "debt" of 14 trillion you would need 7000 of those "couple billion here and there" to pay off the debt... IF THE GOVERNMENT STOPPED SPENDING.

the number of 55 TRILLION in actual debt the country owes would take: 27500 "couple billion" to pay off.

The current national debt that is publicized of 55 Trillion dollars actually exceeds the wealth of all US citizens combined (54 trillion)

Instead of more taxes..... MASSIVE spending cuts. As a country we are FLAT BROKE and they want to spend more.... and tax more. The .gov could confiscate ALL wealth in the United States and we would still not be in the black.

Yes. Thats what the pen light is for when they want you to follow it with your eyes. There is also wipes that they can use on the windshield to see if you have been smoking inside.

Lets not forget how much we spend putting pot smokers in jail. That certainly puts a ding in.

California alone could see between 1 and 1.4 billion a year in tax revenue from legalizing marijuana, according to the study I saw on CNBC. I know it won't put a big dent in the national debt (And again, that's 1.4 billion generated, plus whatever we save by not putting marijuana offenders through the legal system/incarcerating them). Just sayin'.

Add prostitution to the list as well and we'll be getting somewhere....."Yes, how much for a joint of your finest, with a rub and a tug please"

Ok, so we agree this could be a good source of additional tax revenue? Combine this with spending cuts (assuming we can ever elect officials who understand what the words "Spending Cuts" mean) and we could be on the road to paying down the national debt.

I agree we states should be allowed to legalize marijuana, and I definitely agree this would put a huge dent in the money the cartels are getting from the U.S.

I've got no problem with legalizing it. Put the Mexicans out of business, at least the pot business. A little revenue, um, no. Other than sales tax as part of a national fair tax implementation, I don't favor adding new taxes on anything.

Someone had told me this was a good video to watch. 12minutes into it I have learned a bunch of stuff I didn't even know.
