Have had no running issues with my 2004 Buell Blast up until recently when the overnite temps have gone into the 50s my Buell Blast will no longer start in the morning :( Will turn over forever until the battery starts to drain. But when I get home in the afternoon hit the starter one time and it cranks right up. The carb on this bike has an automatic choke/enricher, could this be causing my problems ? Carb has been recently cleaned fyi. Any ideas would be appreciated.

My Ninja 250 has a manual choke and only once had issues starting up in cold weather.

Though it had been in the parking lot where I work for about 6 hours from 5am-11am. It was in the 40's when I got off from work if I remember right. So my extremely uneducated guess would be that the automatic choke isn't working right.

Try spraying some starter fluid in the morning to see I that gets it started. Won't fix the problem but might get it going at least.

On my old Honda sometimes it helped if I turned the engine over some by moving the bike in gear, clutch out, to try and move the cylinders some. Not sure what the reasoning behind that is but it seemed to work.

Somebody snatched up a bunch of their old stock and made some pretty cool custom thumpers out of them

Ask around on badweb: http://www.badweatherbikers.com

The search feature there is kind of funky, so it's easier to just use Google:

Check your battery. Fill it with distilled H2O (assuming it's not a sealed or AGM battery) and put it on a tender overnight. $10 says it clears your problem up. Cold weather drops battery Amperage (hence the rating of CCA). A weak battery can still start a bike when it's warm (warm oil, warm cylinders, easy to turn over), but will struggle when it gets colder. I had the same issue when the cold weather started with my SV, a new battery cleared it right up (not saying you need a new one, mine was legitimately dying).

Could be several things causing this but it's simply not rich enough to fire off cold. Check this board out also, friendliest Buell group around IMHO and plenty of knowledgeable folks.

Havnt checked the battery during cranking yet, but a spray of starter fluid starts it right up just as if the outside temp was warmer.

/sigh I miss fuel injection

Have you taken it back to whoever cleaned your carb?
