Hey guys. Just confirmed Rob n I will be going to Barber Nov 7; newer org on this coast, TrackTactics.org. Its a Monday for $200.

My friend Chris is a control rider, that's how I heard about them.

They're mostly west coast, CA, etc but making huge moves to come over here more. I have heard great things about them so far :woot:

Damn that's almost the same price as a weekend ride! If it was a little cheaper (considering it is on a Monday) I'd be in for that!

Very true about the traffic. Although, I was surprised at this past weekend out there. Wasn't much traffic at all. It was spread out nicely.

It was spread out nicely.Except for the "crashfest" on Saturday i was reading about on their forum. I keep telling people, as beautiful a facility as Barber is, folks need to start the day off slow and learn the track and slowly get up to speed there. That track will bite you in the ass and bite it hard if you dont respect it. Especially for street peeps that are inexperienced with riding on the track yet think just because they "think" theyre fast on the street, they can haul ass out there. You can get away with that on a track like Tally or Jennings, Barber and Road A, not so much. Those type days/weekends happen from time to time tho, doesnt matter what org is running the show.

I so wanted to be there this weekend but they filled up before I could register....and now you say it wasn't that crowded. They called on Friday to say they had 2 open spots on sunday in Novice but i was just getting over the flu and a mad sinus infection anyway.

but that was two days and it would give me that...learning curve time...one day is like a tease my first time on a track!!!! but since I couldn't do this weekend its my only option for barber this year....i am usually a lil timid at first anyway. I can't WAIT to go....just need a FRONT TIRE

Does anyone else hear Rodney Dangerfield in the back ground?

Lat time w/ NESBA a guy and I was at front laughing and making remarks how we hated the tar snake locations especially through turns 5... last thing I said was "Don't get cocky"...he laughed as we pulled out.......and guess what he did on the warm up lap in turn 5?

Totally agree with you Todd...

I do recall saying on Saturday morning to take it easy, come up to speed slowly... but some people will never listen - and you can't ride the bike for them.

I'll have to emphasize that MORE next time... or perhaps do the rider's meeting dressed like a chicken or something.... that might get people's attention better.

Trust me, it wont matter.

I just remember a certain group of riders blasting X-Act for a crashfest weekend we had there last year i believe it was. At the riders meeting, i asked: "how many here have never been here before?" Half the friggin riders raised their hands. Next question was: How many have never done a trackday at all before?" Again, the show of hands was scarey. We then emphasized over and over and over, i mean to the point where i KNOW they were getting tired of hearing it, about how that track, as beautiful and wide as it is, is a very demanding track and for the first timer, its VERY easy to get caught out and crash and/or take someone else with you, especially on a sold out event. Low and behold, nobody fkng listened, and every damn group before lunch was redflagged at LEAST once per session. Bikes were crashing all over the place. We called another meeting, AGAIN stressing to slow the hell down and get comfortable prior to picking up the pace...............................didnt work. Still had some crashes during the day. I dont give a damn what org. it is, CR's, staff, management simply cannot hold a riders hand and twist or not twist the throttle for them.

So, good luck "emphasizing" it the next time youre there.

I just signed up for Novice for this day, can't wait! Never been ON Barber before, so as long as my bike doesn't blow up, or a tree falls on me, or it snows that day, Donna and I will be there. Kristin, Donna sent you an email on FB with a question for this event. Thanks!

Had to tempt fate on this one, did ya? I'm in for some next season, this one is going to slip away from me. On the plus side, I have a new truck, so I'll be able to get mine and Margo's hauled to places like this. I hate I-20 between here and Barber and wouldn't dream of riding my bike out there to then put it on the track. Scary stuff.

Dude, just man up and do the track day. You and Donna have identical riding experience and she is on track day #3. You gonna let a girl beat ya? ;-)

In all seriousness, you will have an absolute blast. You just need to bite the bullet and do one, you will laugh yourself silly it is so much fun to just get out there, tool around and enjoy your bike the way it was meant to be ridden, at whatever speed you are comfortable with.

It's not a matter of skill on this argument, I feel I'm ready now, too. It's the expenses and another day off work. $200 bucks just for access to the track that I really should put to the house, truck payment, moving, etc. Not to mention gas money out there and the loss I'd take by taking the day off. I'm a contractor, I don't get vacation time. Like I said, next season will be good though as we will be more stable and hopefully more settled financially and one on a Saturday.

Hold me to that statement, I will be doing a track day next spring, on a weekend.

Well, that I understand, although your bike would be on the trailer with Donna's, while mine would be in the bed of my truck. I can haul 3 bikes that way with only one vehicle. So it would be cheaper than you think, mainly just the track day... :-)

Yes, balancing that fun with not having to worry if I can make my car payment. I'd be a hypocrite if I gambled like that and touted personal responsibility.

Cool. I will come over and load your bike into the bed of my truck and then hitch up your trailer and all go back to our place, load up our bikes and then have everything ready to roll. Crash with us and we can all be out first think in the morning and save money on gas by only taking one vehicle.

, simply cannot afford to go on with the day and lose thousands of dollars. Your big prices and membership fees with other organizations is want allows them to take a loss when something like that happens, as theyll typically make it up on another event.

Sucks. I have yet to make a track day at Barber. The couple that Marmo was hosting, either canceled or something with work came up at the last minute and prevented me from attending. Last time my bike blew a head gasket the day before. Was totally pumped to finally get to do Barber this time, and of course they cancel...

The Universe does not want me to do a track day there apparently.

Still no refund from these guys. Said it would be here two days ago. Tried to call them, but their voicemail box has not been set up, so you cannot even leave them a message.

I will never do a track day through these clowns. Totally unprofessional, complete mickey mouse organization, they simply don't have what it takes if they cannot keep from ****ing up the basics.

They can take your money in 30 seconds, but it takes a month and still no refund. They won't credit it to my credit card, they won't PayPal it to me, all they said in email was that a check was in the mail last week, which of course it never arrived.

I will be calling my credit card company to dispute it and filing a complaint with the BBB on Friday. I will never do business with them, and I urge anyone considering them to go with the most established track companies and pass over these morons.

I just got off the phone with Brock he said the check was mailed last thursday since the office staff had been on the road previous to that. They offered to cut you another check since you hadn't received it. They don't use paypal...neither do I, there's nothing wrong with that.

It is not that they don't use PayPal that is the issue, or even that they cannot process a credit to my credit card. It is that they took so long to even process the returns. If a company cancels the track day, or any purchase of any kind for that matter, the customer should be issued a prompt refund. I should not have to chase after them for 3 weeks to get them to send it. Because by that time, when something does go wrong, now it is 4 weeks and they are still "resolving" it.

I also just talked to Brock, and explained why I am pissed. My clients expect a certain degree of promptness and professionalism from me, and I expect the same from people that I spend money with. I really am not trying to be a dick about this. I hold myself to the same standard that others hold me to in business, and that makes for GOOD business.

That said, Brock assured me that he would make this right, and I will reserve further comments and give him that opportunity. If he does, great, everyone can be happy and we can just chalk this up to "one of those things". If not, then shame on him. But I will give him that chance, to be fair.

no, but if they do credit cards (and im assuming they do since they charged it to begin with), that could have been done in a matter of 5 mins. Mailing a check back for a refund? wtf not just issue a credit back on the card?

The company that they use for credit card transactions would take 5-7 business days to hit my card, so initially they said it would be faster to mail the check. The problem was that they waited 3 weeks to do that.

Like I said, I won't bash them right now, the owner of the company called me personally and said that he would make it right, so I have to give him the benefit of the doubt that he will do so. I may sound harsh in my posts about them, but so far this has been my only experience with them, so I don't have much else to form an opinion on... We shall see, I am guessing that Brock will make sure that this is taken care of ASAP.

Again, IMO, if youre going to do business, the smart way to do business is if its charged on a CC, it should be credited to a CC. Its way simpler for all involved, and things dont "get lost" in the mail.
