any problems buying a bike with a Tennessee title ?

I have the chance to get a new bike BUT he only has a clear tennessee title. Am I looking at any problems? Do i need to get them to get a clear ga title first?

Bought my bike from a guy in TN. No problems at all. He gave me the title and a bill of sale. I went straight to my tag office and got the tag before I got home with the bike.

Did the same no problem as long as you have bill of sale and signed title.

Just make sure you get a Bill of Sale, a copy of his/her ID and the title signed by the owner.

Also make sure that the title DOES NOT require a notary stamp. I know that some titles do. GA Title are NOT one of those.

TN is a non-notary title state, so it will transfer over just fine. NC is the only state around us that requires a notary signature. - http://dpsweb.dps.louisiana.gov/omv1...1?OpenDocument

You probably won't need the Bill of Sale, but its good to have for your records.

More important things to worry about is that they print their name exactly as it appears on the title and sign it in the correct spots. Don't make any corrections on the date, you'll get fined. Make sure everything is filled out correctly.

GA won't charge you taxes, but you WILL have to pay Ad Valorem on it, when it's time to RE-register.. (on your birthday)

You only pay $38 to register and get tags.. $20 for the registration fee, and $18 for the out of state title transfer to GA title (which a GA Title in your name will be mailed to you in about 2 weeks)

No big deal at all... just need that clear title, and a Bill of Sale, and depending on the bike, you may need to get it inspected by a LEO (law enforcement officer)
