    -1 +2 - Questions

Alright, due to having a limited working knowledge of physics and the like, I ask for some enlightenment. I'd like to try out the -1+2 on my bike.

This will obviously gain me acceleration and decrease my top speed, while increasing my crushing RPM and throwing my speedo off. I am totally fine with that. Now, knowing this, will this setup increase the launch out of corners? Yes, I understand this is highly relative to my piloting skills. However, in theory, am I correct with this assumption?

Generally speaking, yes. You'll be running a higher rpm for any given speed which, in many cases, translates to a meatier part of the powerband (especially on 600s) and better drive/acceleration.

Start small. The front sprocket upgrade can use the same chain and is a much bigger gain than the rear (-1 front = +3 rear).

If you need a replacement chain and both sprockets that might be a different story.

Buy a speedohealer to correct the speedo after the gearing change. I did, and it works great.

And yes, do the gearing change. I did a 520 conversion -1 +2. Lots more accel leaving turns.

I need that on my bike it's off around 4 or 5 mph. My Gps tho i look at to gain the correct speed.

+1. worked great on my old TL. There's also the speedoDRD from motomummy, which is basically the same thing.

True, there are ways around it, but ultimately it'll rack up more mileage than the bike actually has. That was the main reason for me when I put it on.

Ok. The sprockets I ordered are for 525. It's a relatively cheap mod so I will try it out. I ordered the wrong front sprocket, so right now I will have the +2 rear. I'll go ahead and try that out while I wait for the front to get here.
