    FZ-09 vs. Street Triple

I've been looking for a lightweight bike, with good power to ride in the mountains and other shorter rides. Will keep the Kawi Ninja 1K. Budget is around $7K, and would like the bike to be as new as possible.

I found a 2014 FZ-09, 750 miles, it has warranty, sliders, spools, tail kit, from a dealer 3 hours away, $7,000 OTD.

Other bike is a 2012 Street Triple R. 6,000 miles, R&G tag relocate, Sargent seat, Rear seat cowl, Arrow Full exhaust (with Carbon fiber cover) Triumph Bar end mirrors, belly pan and a fly screen. Tires and chain and sprokets have 400 miles on them. $6,300

    Pros/Cons?

I believe Motorcyclist or SPort Rider did a comparo of the two recently. I do know the suspension on the Speed Triple will blow the FZ09 suspension out of the water.

I've done a lot of reading about both bikes, both articles and online forums. FZ has a significant power advantage, the STR has the much better suspension, as purchased. Obviously the STR has a lot more add-ons that the nearly stock FZ.

    07 Daytona
I say the Triumph but I'm a little partial lol. I've got a 07 Daytona with 27,000 miles on it and no problems. I love the power band and the sound the triple makes is awesome! Though I have nothing to compare it to its the only bike I've owned. I do think that Triumph dealers allow test rides though maybe the dealer in Lawrenceville can let you ride one and then you'd have first hand experience to see if you like it (just a thought).

CB1100 coolest bike i've ever owned!
    STR

FZ motor is the shizzle, but rest of bike, all of it, is bargain basement.

Still looking at bikes, also considering Ducati Monster 1100 and Streetfighter 848, but hard to find within my budget. FZ-09 is tempting with that triple, got a chance to get one with only 700 miles for under $7,000, but holding off. Going to look at a Speed Triple. Really wanted to try a smaller bike, but this particular Speedy looks really good in the ad.

just so we are clear, you are looking at the 1000cc speed triple, vs the 675 street triple?

Looking at: 675 Street triple R, FZ-09, Ducati Monster 1100 and Streetfighter 848, and one particular Speed Triple 1050 SE. In general, not looking at Speed Triples, but this one in particular has caught my eye.

Speed Triple off the list. Went and looked at one yesterday, great looking bike, got to test ride it, enjoyed that too, but too similar in weight and power to my N1K. If anyone is interested, it was a 2011 red/white SE, but the older round headlights.
