Motorcycle Law in the Georgia House

Was looking around on the Georgia House site and came across this, HB 166. Here is the link:

    http://www.legis.ga.gov/legislation/...0152016/HB/166

Basically a red light law to allow bike to proceed through red lights without being ticketed when the bike will not trip the sensor. You must wait 60 seconds. Also repeals the handle bar height on bikes. I know two people on the committee. I will do my part and ask them to pass the bill to the floor with a favorable recommendation. Do your part and contact your congressman and ask them to support it, IF you agree with the bill.

it would take a real d*ck to ticket you for it. speaking of the sensor though, does anyone know, do you stop inside the cut out area or outside of it to trip the sensor? it seems like the only benefit to cutting it out would be inside of it, but most cars are going to straddle that little box, so that makes no sense to me...

You stop over the cut part. Either left side or right side or the center line if there is one. If you stop inside the box not on a cut then you will not trip the sensor. I have no trouble with them with the concours but I guess it is a bigger problem with smaller bikes.

You're allowed to proceed after stopping (and ensuring no oncoming traffic) if a light fails to turn green, as it's considered a non-operational light.

I've been pulled over for it despite that (stupid cop in this case) after waiting for a few minutes. He let me off like he was doing me a favor. Now what I do is turn right on red, do a U-turn, and go on my way. Not worth risking an encounter with Atlanta police, or worse, Atlanta courts.

The Atlanta traffic court is full of the dumbest people I've ever met in my life. In, my, life.

Ape hangars are actually very comfortable. Used to ride my bud's HD that had them. Didn't mind them at all.
